 AVATAR GUITAR DUOAvatar is a highly experienced instrumental acoustic guitar duo that concentrates mainly on performing Latin repertoire in a variety of settings including corporate events, wedding ceremonies and receptions, trade shows and launches.
Avatar is an acoustic guitar driven duo that was formed late in 2003. The combination of nylon and steel string guitars allows an emphasis on repertoire diversity, drawing upon such broad styles as Flamenco, Bossa Nova, Tango, Samba, Calypso, Jazz and Popular classics. Avatar has performed at most major events in Melbourne (Australian Open Tennis, Melbourne Cup, AFL Grand Final, Commonwealth Games, Boxing Day Test Cricket, etc) and at hundreds of venues for intimate audiences of 15 people up to concert-style performances to people numbering in their thousands. Between them Avatar members perform regularly around Australia and in Asia and Europe. The duo can be expanded to trio format (to include vocals or percussion) or quartet format (to include any combination of two guitars, bass guitar, vocals and percussion).
The Repertoire We have tried to keep the group’s repertoire stylistically broad. Most people will know Glenn and Nick as Jazz Musicians and it is for this reason that no Jazz tunes, swing or standards appearing in the repertoire below.
