John Montesante’s ‘CAFE SOCIETY ORCHESTRA’ Big Band Era of 40s - 60s TREAT YOURSELF TO THE RARE OPULENCE of this 19-20 piece BIG BAND JOHN MONTESANTE : Band Leader John first came to national attention as a Jazz musician-arranger in his 20s. He was an original member-arranger-trumpeter with popular band Kush in the 1970s, and also performed in other name Bands of that decade, as well as various Big Bands and Orchestras. Playing Trumpet, Flugel and Keyboards, Montesante founded the now legendary Soul & Rhythm and Blues outfit Grand Wazoo in 1981, and shortly afterwards introduced his Café Society Orchestra for Inflation Nightclub’s Black Tie Nights. A little later he also formed his Jazz Quintet. An indefatigable musician, John has led, performed or written hundreds of orchestrations for these outstanding bands since their formation making him a uniquely dedicated and versatile figure within the Australian music scene. He has performed, backed, supported, acted as musical director, or arranged for many eminent International and Australian artists across the Big Band, Soul, Rhythm & Blues and Jazz genres, Whenever John Montesante offers his outstanding bands to a discerning public, superb quality and enjoyment are always assured. The Band can also bring in celebrity guests, (like Wilbur Wilde or Jeff Duff), with appropriate fee loading. [On rare occasions, clients may request a string section, and we can accommodate that as well, again with increased fee, as it brings the CSO lineup to 30].
