Sporting paddy are proud to have been part of melbourne and victoria's irish music scene since 2000. Sporting paddy is a lively celtic trio playing irish, scottish and contemporary songs and tunes, from 'black velvet band'and 'whiskey in the jar' to 'brown-eyed girl' and 'to her door'.
 
Lots of experience at weddings and functions. Great easy listening or dancing music. Instruments featured include; fiddle, guitar, uilleann pipes, bazouki, mandolin, and djembe. Over the past eight years sporting paddy has played regularly at venues such as bridie o’reilly’s, brunswick, fr flanagan’s, collingwood, and the dan o’connell, carlton as well as the brian boru and pugg mahone’s (formerly darby o’gill’s) in bendigo.
 
We have also played at finnegan’s at highpoint west, pugg mahone’s city, jell’s park teahouse, the celtic club, the turf bar queen st, flanagan’s bar doncaster, flanagan’s bar ferntree gully, finbar’s brighton, and molly bloom’s port melbourne. We also took part in the charity concert for bali victims, held at gaelic park in keysborough.
 
In addition, we have performed at many private functions and weddings. We have also played at several corporate functions  at venues such as the hilton hotel, the windsor hotel, the regent hotel and parliament house. In 2006 we were fortunate enough to play at the athlete’s villages in both melbourne and bendigo during the commonwealth games. This year we have regular bookings at the celtic club in melbourne, the quiet man and hickinbotham’s winery dromana. As we begin our preparations for 2009, we already have regular bookings at hickinbotham’s winery, and the celtic club as well as several bookings for private functions and weddings.
 
We normally play as a 3 piece band or duo but can also play as a 4 or 5 piece band depending on your requirements. I also perform solo and i have found that the demand for solo and duo gigs has increased over the past year.
 
We feature guitar and vocals along with fiddle, mandolin, uilleann pipes and percussion.
 
Our repertoire includes traditional and contemporary irish and scottish music along with contemporary middle-of-the-road international and australian covers . We can pitch the music to suit the audience and situation, from mellow background music to loud and fast dance music.
