Member Bio

Lead vocalist Kerri Mack has sung all her life and was a backing vocalist for various cover & original bands in the US before returning to her hometown of Adelaide & taking the lead mic for the first time in The Gap. Kerri loves all kinds of music from R&B, to soul, funk, jazz, pop, rock and even some classical, with favourite female vocalists including Dusty Springfield, Aretha Franklin, Joss Stone, Erykah Badu & Pink.

Guitarist Andy Harris is an Adelaide-born six-stringer influenced by popular rock bands ranging from The Beatles to The Darkness. He’s played guitar in an acoustic duo, a part-original / part-covers rock band which played several festival gigs around Adelaide in 2009 and gigged with cover band Hang On over the past 2 years.

Hailing from Newcastle in the UK, Colin Chapman played bass for 5 years in various cover bands and as a stand-in bassist for various bands before emmigrating to Adelaide in 2008. His Classic British rock influences are Cream, Free, Deep Purple & The Strangers, and Oz rock influences are Cold Chisel, AC/DC & Powderfinger. Fave bands are Dire Straits, Pink Floyd & Powderfinger.

Female drummer, Satomi Ohnishi, started playing percussion/drums in her junior high school band back in Japan and took lessons from a well-known Japanese jazz drummer. Although she played only jazz in Japan (and still plays in Adelaide with Black Fedora Jazz Quintet), she enjoys playing any music (blues rock, Latin folk etc) as long as the music is good! Her favorite drummers are Max Roach, Ed Thigpen, and Vinnie Colaiuta.

The combined experiences and varied influences of these musicians gives The Gap a firm platform to cover a wide mix of genres of music, old & current, keeping their audiences dancing all night long!
