Shiney
Shiney are: Deanna Constantine, Marisa Magee and Jo K Russell
Deanna Constantine has an amazing voice. One that makes your jaw drop and your heart swell up in your chest. Her songs are poetry. Her past history includes a hybrid of bands, most notably 'Novadust'. De is also currently involved with 'The Oppenhiemer Project', a Melbourne based ambient techno hybrid who recieved honourable mention for last years JJJ's Melbourne Unearthed.
Marisa Magee writes the fun stuff. Dark, poignant, sometimes comic lyrics coupled with irresistable tunes that make you happy despite yourself. Her strong guitar playing is no doubt a result of having to strum at a mad pace with her other outfit, skiffle band 'The Rock Island Linesman'. Nothing like good drinking music to develop a strong strumming action!
Jo K Russell re-discovered her guitar a few years back and since then has single handedly (or sometimes in collaboration with UK Lyricist Justin Woodcock) churned out an amazing array of acoustic pop rock. Seen most recently with Melbourne singer songwriter Rachel Parkinson in their duo 'Frenulum', Jo's songs are sometimes sweet, sometimes dark and always vocally challenging.
Strong original music, amazing harmonies and an ability to share the lead and keep it fun. With these powers combined, SHINEY is developing into something that is truly unique and absolutely contagious...
