  A repertoire of over 300 songs makes this dynamic and prestigious 14 piece SOUL-RnB INSTITUTION, formed in 1981, the BEST in town. GRAND WAZOO performs vibrant arrangements of Soul & R&B Classics & Dance Repertoires from late 50s, through 60s, 70s to ’80, with an occasional Band Original thrown into the mix.

You will hear great Black Soul artists from Ray Charles to Motown, from James Brown to Aretha Franklin , from Al Green to Prince, from Tina Turner to Etta James, and many others, including band originals in the same big Soul style … all showcasing 4 Lead Singers, 6 Horns & 4 Rhythm players. The Band is a Legendary established Act of 14 onstage Artists. It never cuts down in size (except when instrumentally backing a visiting artist) and generally brings in a small road crew. When Full Production is supplied by the Band there may be 17-18 personnel (Artists & Crew) at a Gig. The Band's "Soul Extravaganza" is up to 2 x 1 hr sets, or you may choose 3 x 40 minute sets, with intervals & encore -comprising tunes like:

Not only does GRAND WAZOO sound wonderful, the line up also looks like the authentic Soul Bands of the era. [And two of Grand Wazoo's Singers, Wylie J & John (JT) have performed, recorded and toured in Afro-American bands in the US and internationally. eg. JT appeared with Al Green and Stevie Wonder, prior to settling in Australia.] With close to three decades of continuous performance, there is no Band in the southern hemisphere, which makes Soul R&B Music more enjoyable & entertaining.

[For JEWISH Wedding Functions, GRAND WAZOO also offers the traditional Hora Sets with outstanding Jewish Singer, SHIMON WALLES, with a fee loading. Shimon also performs Italian tenor arias, from the repertoires of Luciano Pavarotti & Andre Bocelli, and will even sing a verse in Hebrew, upon request.]

As a top 'reading' band, under outstanding band leader-arranger John Montesante, GRAND WAZOO is able to back any visiting International or Interstate artists, within the Soul, Funk, Rhythm n Blues & Jazz genres. Some have included Sam & Dave, Venetta Fields, Max Merritt, Kate Ceberano, Marcia Hines, Wilson Pickett Band, Hollywood Brown, Jeff Duff, Jackie Love, Normie Rowe, Hot Chocolate and many others.

Shimon Walles is an outstanding Jewish Wedding & Concert Singer, who also specializes in Italian Tenor arias.
 
GRAND WAZOO’s preferred Jewish Singer, Shimon Walles has been singing professionally for more than 11 years, seven of those leading a band of his own.
 
He sings many different styles of Jewish music including Israeli, Chassidic, Traditional, Klezmer and Carlebach and can cater to diverse crowds. He is also a cantor, which in Hebrew is a chazzan, meaning that he leads the services on high holidays and is well acquainted with Jewish Liturgical / cantorial music.
 
Shimon is blessed with a rich and powerful tenor voice that can assume many roles. As well as the full Jewish program, he performs many of the great Italian arias with great aplomb. ( Think  Andre Bocelli & Luciano Pavarotti – O Solo Mio ; Nessun Dorma etc))
 
On a personal note, he is a positive person and loves creating inspiring energy on stage, and getting the crowd involved through his song.
