And their live show rocks the house: Funk with spunk, humour with attitude! Sensual and hot . . . Wow, they just blew me away. I had to go home and have a lie down - Mr. Ged, PBS-FM presenter
Their debut, self-titled CD is as varied as their career history. It contains 7 band tracks, 3 live comedy tracks, a CD rom, plus a few surprises. File under "subversive comedy funk". Pradeepa (vocals, didgeridoo, percussion) and Clint Healy (bass, vocals, guitar) conceived the 'egg in mid '97. Since then they've done band gigs, acoustic gigs, comedy, cabaret, festivals, MCing, and were in the house band for a comedy festival show. They've also appeared on Channel [V], Channel 31, 3RRR, PBS-FM, and 3CR.
Following the CD launch in March, cosmic egg will do a string of shows for the 2001 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and then hit the road. Tony Day on drums (Masters Apprentices, Girl Overboard, Broderick Smith) and Darren Bujeya on guitar (whose band "Maybe an Omen" won New Faces and appeared on Hey Hey) have now joined cosmic egg the band, with a sax player still to come.
