"BODY n SOUL" is a hot new Soul/RnB covers act featuring the amazing vocal talents of KIMBERLY (ex Japan) and the musical genius of MARTIN GRIGG (ex UK) on keyboards. "BODY n SOUL" hits Brisbane's live music scene! International Soul/RnB vocalist, KIMBERLY is at the heart of BODY n SOUL. Based in Brisbane, Queensland, Kimberly teamed up with pianoman extraordinaire, MARTIN GRIGG in 2005.
Essentially a Soul/RnB "covers" act, BODY n SOUL add their unique touch to the biggest hits of the last fifty years. BodynSoul are a live acoustic duo. That is to say their songs are performed live with no sequenced backing tracks or minidisk support, except for drum patterns on some songs. Nevertheless their sound is varied and interesting, spontaneous, and always entertaining.
Kimberly's career as an entertainer started at the age of 10, performing with her mother, also a professional entertainer. As a college student in Japan, she was "scouted" at a university gig. Kimberly was soon singing in Tokyo's top clubs and hotels. She has also added live radio and television appearances to her resume. Kimberly moved to Australia in 2002 to pursue her career as an entertainer and recording artist. She has been performing in Western Australia, New South Wales and now in Queensland with Brisbane as her permanent base. Whether she performs the music of Tina Turner, Donna Summer or Anastacia, the power in her performance is amazing! Kimberly's true genius lies in the way she is able to transform a song we've heard a thousand times and make it her own. You feel as though you are hearing the song for the very first time! In 2006 she teams up with MARTIN GRIGG on keyboards in BODY n SOUL an exciting new Soul/RnB outfit. The audiences who have seen her perform agree: Kimberly is an entertainment dynamo. Martin Grigg has been living and breathing music since he was born. This keyboard 'magician' hails from the UK and comes from a very musical family. Martin's first toy was the grand piano in his parents living room! Despite many years of formal training in piano, Martin's real gift has always been his abilty to improvise and play by ear, which he has now developed to a high degree of professionalism. Martin moved to Australia in the late 70's and embarked on a career in the photographic industry. However, his love for music-making was always in the background. He has worked with a variety of bands including the 7 piece Line of Fire and popular showband Hanky Panky. Martin is now a regular member of the Caribbean Kings and 4 piece band Azitiz. In 2006 he embarks on a new phase of his professional music career, teaming up with international Soul/R&B vocal sensation, Kimberly. The new duo outfit is called BODY n SOUL.
Although new on the scene, BodynSoul have already captivated Brisbane audiences with appearances at local restaurants and hotels, as well as private functions, and are set to carve their own unique niche in acoustic duo entertainment. Their repertoire is diverse and flexible enough to be tailored to suit from quiet sophisticated cocktail bars to party atmosphere.
