CAPREE

CAPREE

Capree - R&B Boy Band
Music style: R&B, Dance, Pop, Slow Jams, Reggae, old school

Sydney, NSW, Australia

For a group that has only been together a short time, it is amazing to witness how Capree can go anywhere and draw a crowd. All they have to do is start singing. Their beautiful Maori and Samoan voices melt hearts, good looks have been known to bring girls to tears, warm personalities and irresistible charm endear them to everyone they meet. Capree's music style is predominantly R&B; performing soulful renditions of everything from Usher to Boys II Men, accompanied by mind blowing dance moves. Their singing talents also cross various other genres including, Reggae, 70's classics, even Frank Sinatra and the occasional Gospel song.

The group formed initially to compete in Australia's Got Talent 2011; moving from New Zealand and within just a few weeks on the show, captivated the nation's hearts as the favourites to win. After their first one minute audition, Danni Minogue said "I just want to know where I buy the t shirt, the record and the concert ticket". The boys chose the name Capree because someone once told them that it means “Rising up”. It was only a few months ago that they discovered it actually means chopped tomatoes!

Despite their young ages (18-21yrs), these boys are no strangers to competition. David, Fender and Wyllis are World Hip Hop Dance Champions, Patrick is a Black Belt, winning a Bronze medal representing NZ Karate at the Commonwealth Games, while Joshua has performed at the Sydney Opera House and represented Glee Australia in Los Angeles. What makes these achievements more remarkable is that these boys grew up in some of the roughest parts of New Zealand; where gangs, violence, drugs and crime are the norm, and many of those close to them have been imprisoned or killed.

The Capree boys could have been ideal gang candidates, but after seeing so many lives destroyed, they decided to form their own family unit and create a positive future for themselves through music. Their sheer determination, ambition and beautiful voices will not only capture the attention of the world, but also set them up as incredible role models for the young generation.

(Joshua Loau left the group September 2011 to pursue a career as a music teacher)
