THE BADJOHNS

THE BADJOHNS

5 piece live,Caribbean style band using steel drums,keyboard,guitar,bass,drums and 3 vocals.Diverse repertoire ranges from originals,jazz,calypso,reggae,soca and cuban/latin.

Noosa Heads, Brisbane, QLD, Australia

The Badjohns are unique to the Australian music scene. They play a mix of Caribbean music such as calypso, reggae and soca as well as some cuban/latin, originals and jazz. standards.

The band has a distinct "signature sound" which comes from the combination of steelpans(still unusual in Australia) and conventional instruments. Added to this sound are strong lead vocals and harmonies by three highly experienced singers.

The diversity of the repertoire make this band ideal for parties, dancing and festive occasions where a joyful sound and a spectacle are required whilst also being able to cater for more subdued and serious  "listening" crowds.

Featuring a virtuoso Trinidadian steelpan player ...Lennox "Madman" Jordan ...., the Badjohns are in a class of their own. Lennox has recently arrived in Australia from Trinidad where he managed and arranged for a 60 piece steelband as well as tuned and built the instruments in the tradition of his father "Madman" Jordan.

Kenny Griffiths(drums) and Matthew Davies (guitar and steelpans) were born and bred in Trinidad so this also enables the band to maintain an authentic Caribbean flavour in it's music. Roger Koller(Fender Bass) has mastered the special bass lines for this style of music

Sharon Brown is an award winning songwriter and is passionate about playing steelpans. Having wotked in both jazz and caribbean bands for over a decade her experiences also add to the band's magic.
