Raelene Bruinsma is a compelling singer songwriter. Her entertaining solo act of original material includes a cappelia and accompanied songs, using guitar and sometimes flute or percussion for variety.

Melbourne, VIC, Australia
Her versatile singing voice is sometimes light and sweet, and at others big and raunchy, as she competently uses jazz, blues and folk vocal techniques. The result is a warm dynamic performance with variations in tone colour.

The songs themselves are varied from comic to poignant, angry, to sad and joyous. They cover a variety of themes from love, stories of growing up, and social issues.

Raelene released her debut CD, "Home for Now" in December 2000.

Raelene has entered the folklacoustic music medium via a background in classical music and music therapy. She suppressed her deep passion for performance and songwriting for many years, and re-discovered it after experiencing Woodford Folk Festival for the first time in 1998/ 1999. Since then she's been passionately pursuing this path and in the process become an enthusiastic convert to the rich variety of sounds and experiences available under the umbrella term of "folk". She has written prolifically in that time, having written about fifty songs, about half of which she performs live (and a few covers). Her songs are finely crafted, and her performances warm and engaging. She has been building a following especially in the hills near Melbourne with her performances. The following page gives a chronological illustration of this growth.
