Sydney, NSW, Australia

26 year old Mike Kerry aka Channel [V]’s ‘DJ Mike’ is loving his role a resident vibemaster of ‘Room 208’.  The smash show, live to air every Saturday night out of Channel [V]’s fox Studios headquarters, was the 2001 Rolling Stone Magazine Hottest TV Show of the Year, and with 200 000 viewers every week, is becoming the definitive warm up to Australia’s Saturday night.  Mike says of the show’s success “Its simple – its fun.  Too many people have forgotten how fun TV can be and ‘Room 208’ is reminding them!”

Delivering fun is something that Mike has been doing for many years now.  He started Djing through university to complement his student lifestyle and when he was invited to host Channel [V]’s new dance show ‘Peakhour’ (formerly known as ‘Club [V]’ he accepted the challenge to spread his beloved dance culture to the masses.  Currently the host of ‘Room 208’, ‘Peakhour’, the ‘Channel [V] Music Bus’ and fill in host for the afternoon request show ‘WhatUWant’, Mike travels Australia and the world seeking and providing the best parties around:- “The travel aspect of the job has been amazing.  Ibiza, Miami, London, Hong Kong, China and around Australia 6-7 times searching for that perfect beat!”

This Sydney University law graduate come TV presenter continues to balance many different interests.  As the owner of promotional company Sounds on Sunday, he runs the hugely successful ‘Sounds on Sunday’ in Sydney (nominated for ‘best club’ at the ‘2002 National Dance Music Awards’) and the Gold Coast.  As a spokesperson for the youth affairs, he is invited regularly to address high school students and to participate in youth forums such as the NSW Government ‘Indent’ Forum.  Of course, who could forget his beloved Djing, at guest appearances in Australia’s best clubs, as resident for the Channel 10 music show ‘Pepsi Live’, and at specialist events like the 2002 Planet X Summer Games at Sydney Superdome.

Mike’s philosophy is a simple one, “Life’s just a ride – you hop on for a few spins, then you hop off.  The challenge is to meet and reach as many people as you can on that ride.”  Well said from the boy who received an ‘A’ for talking from his 3rd grade teacher: “Yeah…my mum said I can talk underwater with a mouth full of marbles!”  No doubt he can.
