THE JELLYBUGS

Through our shows, we encourage children to play a part in the world of Performing Arts. Our music caters for children from ages 1 to 10 years, while Mum and Dad can enjoy it also.

Our show is fun, vibrant and when kids participate, they thoroughly enjoy themselves!

Our performances can cater for small private venues, to large gigantic halls and even the beautiful outdoors!

STATEMENT OF BELIEFS
THE JELLYBUGS create their music and entertainment based upon the following beliefs:-

* That education through music is concerned with the development of the whole person. ie: physical, social, emotional & cognitive.

* That education through music is best achieved in a bright, happy and colourful learning environment.

* That live music and sounds are used where possible.

* That a minimum of 70% performance time is music.

* That all songs encourage participation.

* That material used should draw on imagination and imaginative uses for everyday items.

* That as a band, we spend time teaching ways of participating ie: dance, actions etc

* That specific skills are able to be identified in each song. ie: numeracy, co-ordination literacy etc

* That these skills are revised regularly through our music.

* That our music should lead children through experiences of positive self esteem.

* That our music provides an example of equity, both gender and cultural.

* That children have learnt something to take away with them at the end of each show.

* That our material will draw on a variety of music styles.

* That our music is also "adult friendly"!

Jelly comes from JELLYBUG LAND.......He is bright, bubbly and loves to dance! He knows all the cool moves. Jelly starts his day by practising NEW dance moves to The Jellybugs songs.

Sometimes Jelly makes a surprise visit when The Jellybugs are in concert. Keep a look out for him!!

Ange Hateley:  is an established, professional singer and song writer. Her classical training and extensive experience, stemming over 17 years, gives Ange the ability to perform with great confidence and expression. Ange has co-produced four successful children's albums over the past 7 years, providing most of the musical and creative direction that has made the music so popular with children and adults alike. Ange also brings with her experience in child care.

Simon Rashleigh is a talented guitarist with many years of playing experience.  He has performed in both original and cover bands.  Simon has also performed extensively on stage as an actor, which shows in his uplifting performances with The Jellybugs.  He has a warm, bright and vibrant personality which has a magnetic affect on the children.

Beth McDonald: is a professional singer with over 11 years experience. Her past work includes solo and trio performances as well as theatrical shows such as Wizard of Oz. Beth also brings with her a genuine understanding of children from her work in the Welfare field. Beth enjoys the vitality of performing for children and the fun that is generated from their responses.

Rex Hateley is the rhythm section of the band. He plays drums and percussion and is an established song writer. Rex founded and has been responsible for the recording and co-production of four childrens music albums over the past 7 years. Rex also brings with him a wealth of experience from his training and over 16 years experience in early childhood development.
