The breakfast show continues to dominate ratings after an extraordinarily successful year in 2006 and 2007, and they have picked up where they left off in 2007. ‘The Matt and Jo Show’ are rejoicing in their fourth consecutive increase in the 2008 ratings book, with the show attracting more listeners than any other breakfast program in Australia. She got all the way to the Grand Final, coming runner up, but not before wowing Australian audiences with her and Anthony’s rendition of ‘The Prayer’.
Over the years, Jo’s ability, infectious personality and charming appearance has lead to an expanding list of successful television roles with the ABC, Comedy Channel, Network 10, Seven and Nine Networks. She has been a regular panellist on Channel Ten’s ‘The Panel’, Channel Seven’s ‘Sunday Brunch’ and Channel Nine’s ‘Clever’, and she hosted the small business program ‘Bread’ and the short-lived ‘Yasmin’s Getting Married’. She continues to make guest appearances on a number of shows including ‘Thank God You’re Here’ (Ch 10), ‘Family Feud’ (Ch 9), ‘Australia’s Brainiest’ Quiz Show (Ch 10) and ‘Good as Gold’ (Ch 7).
Brought up in Victoria along with her two sisters, Jo had always wanted to be an actor, and overcame shyness by becoming the class joker. This passion for being in the spotlight has remained with Jo and is evidenced by her chosen degree - a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Drama and Theatre Studies which she completed at Monash University.
Jo started telling jokes as a teenager to make friends at a new school. Her exhibitionism took her into studying acting, where she kept people laughing, even in the dying scenes. Taking the hint, Jo began writing and performing Stand-up and Sketch Comedy in 1992, a talent that has taken her all around the country and overseas.
It was while doing stand-up in a dingy Collingwood pub about 5 years ago that she was discovered by Fox FM. She started in the Sunday night shift before building her success with the breakfast show to become a popular radio personality with Fox FM’s Matt & Jo Show.
Jo has graced the film industry in a number of short films since 1999 and has since been involved in various VCA short films with an on-going interest in the industry.
Jo also supplements her television and radio hosting by combing her radiant personality and charisma to MC corporate functions.
