AMANCAY CHILEAN DANCE GROUP

Amancay Chilean Folkloric Dance Group has been operating for over 24 years within Victoria. Although Amancay is a relatively small group we are reknown for being innovative and different with our performances. Amancay showcases many different dances from regions all over Chile in the past year alone Amancay has performed Huaso Elegante,Campesino,Chiloe and Norte. Within those regions we have performed things like Cuasimodo (a religious ceremony from Campesino) Chiloe we have performed "dreamtime" dances involving witches and ghost ships.

No expense is spared when organising props and costumes with a performance never being shown more than 3 times. We are the only group to have a professional Chilean dance teacher Mr Hernan Morales. Hernan comes from "Bafona" where he received professional training for many years. We are proud to say Hernan has been with us for over 15 years and we anticipate many more years.

Over the past 24 years we have had the honour of dancing for many influential people not only in the Chilean community but the wider community. We have travelled to Sydney to perform there and have had a couple place 2nd in the Cueca competitions the only year we entered. Amancay always welcomes anyone wishing to participate whether it be singing,dancing or playing a musical instrument.
