Jennifer Turnbull
Jennifer achieved her AMusA in Voice with Honours in 1998. She then completed her Graduate Diploma in Opera Performance in 1999 and her Graduate Diploma in Vocal Performance in 2000, both at the Queensland Conservatorium.
In 2000, Jennifer was a semi-finalist in the McDonald's Aria Competition and was awarded the Conservatorium Post Graduate Vocal Scholarship and the Alton Budd Memorial Competition. In 2001, Jennifer was a Developing Artist with Opera Queensland. She appeared in the Opera Queensland Chorus in performances of Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Andrea Chenier and Tosca.
Jennifer has appeared as a soloist with Opera Queensland, the Queensland State and Municipal Choir, the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra, the Queensland Pops Orchestra and the Australian Army Band Brisbane.
Roles include Cupid in Orpheus in the Underworld, Lisa in La Sonnambula, Valencienne in The Merry Widow, Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance (all for Rockdale Municipal Opera), the Bat and the Shepherdess in L'Enfant et les Sortileges and Euridice in Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld (for the Queensland Conservatorium).
Throughout 2004 and 2005, Jennifer pursued her vocal studies in London with Enid Hartle and coach Jean Mallandaine.
Katie Rutledge
Katie studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music for five years graduating in 1999. Whilst completing her studies Katie performed as a soloist at the Sydney Opera House for the Annual Celebration Concert in aid of Stewart House and was appointed Choral Director of the Kenmore High School Show Choir, gaining first in the state 4 years running in Queensland's Choral Fanfare competition.
In 2000, Katie was selected as a soloist for the St Stephens Scholar and subsequently joined Opera Queensland in 2002, performing annually over six years in operas including Andrea Chenier, Tosca, Un ballo in maschera (A Masked Ball), The Marriage of Figaro and Romeo and Juliet.
In 2006, Katie performed the role 'Songbird' in the Opera Queensland's production of Songbird which toured Queensland's state primary schools. Most recently, Katie has returned from London, following her invitation to further her vocal studies with internationally renowned teacher Enid Hartle.
Kylie Bailey
Kylie Bailey graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium with a Bachelor of Music and Diploma of Opera. She began her career in musical theatre at an early age and then ventured in to the cabaret scene where she toured nationally as a member of the vocal trio Mystique. In 2005 & 2006 Kylie was selected as a member of Opera Queensland's Young Artist Program.
In 2007 Kylie will perform the role of Hansel for Opera Queensland's production of Hansel and Gretel, and also play the role of Meg in South Australian Opera's premier production of Little Women. In 2006 Kylie performed the role of Flora in Opera Queensland's La Traviata and understudied the roles of Cherubino (The Marriage of Figaro), Stephano (Romeo & Juliette), Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus) and Alisa (Lucia di Lammermoor). Kylie has been a chorus member for Opera Queensland's productions of La Boheme, The Marriage of Figaro, Romeo & Juliette, Lucia di Lammermoor and Die Fledermaus. In 2005 Kylie toured as a soloist throughout Queensland in the concert production of The Food of Love and was a member of Opera Queensland's Moving Opera educational program. In 2004 Kylie performed in the chorus for Andrea Bocelli's concerts at the Sydney Superdome and with the Opera Australia Chorus in Faure's Requiem and Orff's Carmina Burana. That same year Kylie also performed the role of Second Lady in Pacific Opera's The Magic Flute.
Kylie has been successful in many competitions, most recently she was awarded Runner-up in the Joan Sutherland Operatic Aria Award (2006), was a finalist in the Opera & Arts Foundation Award, and The Sydney Savage Club Scholarship. Kylie was a recipient of a Goethe Institute Scholarship and an Italian Cultural Scholarship, which enabled her to study in Florence, Italy, throughout the summ
Jessica O'Donoghue
Jessica O'Donoghue was a graduate of the NSW Talent Development Project in 1995. She went on to further her studies, graduating with a Bachelor of Music from the University of Sydney (1999) and a Diploma in Opera from the Victorian College of the Arts (2001). She has won the vocal awards in the City of Sydney Eisteddfod and the Manningham Eisteddfod Society.
Jessica's career as a performer commenced in musical theatre and operetta with roles in Les Miserables (Cosette) and The Mikado (Peep-Bo). Later she performed as a featured artist at major events including the Brian Stacey Memorial Concert at The Melbourne Concert Hall, the State of Origin matches at the MCG and the SCG, and the AFL grand final at Aurora Stadium in Tasmania. Other engagements included performing as the soprano soloist in Haydn's Nelson Mass with the Melbourne Chorale and the Academy of Melbourne Orchestra and with the string quartet Coda. Jessica has also featured on the albums Renaissance Players and Kinderjazz, and on the music video Kinderjazz.
As a member of Opera Queensland's 2005 Developing Artist Program, Jessica performed in the Chorus of La bohème and sang as a soloist in concerts and at corporate functions. She also performed the role of Annabel in the Company's chamber opera The Song Bird (which visited primary schools throughtout South East Queensland). As one of the Company's 2006 Young Artists, Jessica understudied the role of Adele in Die Fledermaus as well as performing in the Ensemble(which also toured regional Queensland) and performed in the Chorus of Romeo and Juliet and Lucia di Lammermoor. She was also part of the Moving Opera! team, which presented workshops in secondary schools throughout South East Queensland.
As a 2007 Young Artist, Jessica will sing the role of Gretel in the chamber opera Hansel & Gretel (which visits primary schools throughout Queensland), join the Moving Opera! team, understudy the role of Hero in The Love of the Nightingale and understudy the roles of Sandman and Dew Fairy in the main stage production of Hansel and Gretel in July.
