DING DONG, YVONNE CALLING

Kate Wright is “Miss Yvonne Calling”, one half of the hugely popular comedy and circus duo act “OzStar Airlines”.   “Ding Dong, Yvonne Calling”, has recently been performed in the 2009 European festival season at events including North Holland's Karavaan Festival, Slouttintheatre (NL), Stockton International Riverside Festival (U.K), Festival of Fools (Northern Ireland) and London's The Royal National Theatre at the Watch this Space program (U.K).

Ding Dong, Meet Yvonne, a character inspired by the iconic Avon Lady with all the glamour of a tupparware box!. Let Miss Yvonne Calling take you into a world of beauty and glamour and demonstrate a range of beauty must haves, that you simply can't live without, finally a way to transform your everyday life to a new life of glamour, gloss...... and maybe even fame!. Combining circus with comedy, Yvonne juggles a range of different beauty products and uses elements of slapstick humour in a cosmetics demonstration inspired by the ridiculousness of the beauty industry. With a fun and updeat soundtrack, Miss Yvonne Calling regurauarly presses her doorbell playing the iconic “Ding Dong” reminding us of the Avon lady of yesteryear. She leads up to an over the top glossy finale, displayed on a, oh so kitch, circular revoloving stage where everything goes wrong from an exploding confetti canon to her ever smooth, face of cosmetics world falling apart around her and on her, quite literally. Be prepared for hula hoop, juggling and extreme stupidity!.

Ding Dong Yvonne Calling, can be performed indoors or out as a full length 30 minute show, or as a hostess with the mostest! comedy MC, or a shorter version of the show  to suit the event.

This show was made as a street theatre commision for the Adelaide Fringe 09.

Kate Wright is one half of the succesfull act OzStar Airlines, who have toured for the past 5 years to over 13 countrys and extensivly throughout Europe and Canada. Some career highlights of the OzStar's have included performing two years in a row  at the Watch this Space Program at the Royal National Theatre (U.K), Opening the World of Wearable Art (WOW)in Wellington N.Z, Hosting the Australian Circus and Physical Theatre ( ACAPTA) comedy galah, performing for two years in a row at the Oerol Festvial (NL) and The Karavaan Festival (NL).

Kate Wright has also worked with leading outdoor U.K based theatre company dotComedy on large and small scale productions inlcuding "Get Lost" at the Oerol Festival. Other work with dotComedy have included working as an artist in residence at Viva La Cite and  the Small is Beatifull Festival in creation centres in France.
