Karl Stefanovic is co-host of the Nine Network’s Today Show.

After launching his media career in far north Queensland, he worked as a reporter in Auckland with Television New Zealand, returning to Australia in 1998 with Network Ten as a news reporter and presenter in Brisbane, and later Sydney.

He joined Nine’s Brisbane affiliate in 2000 as a news reporter and back-up National Nine News presenter. His reporting of the Childers backpacker hostel fire earned him a Queensland Media Award for best news coverage.

A graduate of Queensland University of Technology with a degree in journalism, Karl took up an appointment in Nine’s Sydney newsroom in 2002.

He went on to win widespread commendation for his coverage of the Canberra bushfires in 2003, the Bali bombing and subsequent criminal trials and the bombing of the Marriott Hotel in Jakarta.

With an impressive on-the-road reporting record, he was posted to Los Angeles in 2003 as a Nine correspondent where he reported on the major stories of the day.

In early 2005, Karl was chosen to replace retiring Steve Liebmann as co-host of Today, traditionally one of the premier assignments in Nine’s news and current affairs programming.
