Robert Allenby enjoyed a stellar amateur career which included winning the 1990 Victorian Amateur and 1991 Victorian Open. In 1990 he also came within a whisker of winning the Australian Open before Wayne Riley sank a 45 foot putt on the 18th green at Royal Melbourne to win by a single stroke. Robert turned professional in 1992 winning the Johnnie Walker Classic and recording eight top ten finishes to claim both the Australasian Tour Order of Merit and Rookie of the Year awards.

In 1994 Robert repeated his achievement of winning the Australasian Tour Order of Merit highlighted by his victory at the Australian Open Championship. The year also marked his first win on the European Tour at the Honda Open in Germany. In 1996 he confirmed his emergence as one of the leading players in the world with three victories on the European Tour to finish 3rd on the Order of Merit. However, the year ended on a sour note as horrific injuries from a car crash in Spain seriously threatened his career.

After a long and and difficult rehabilitation, Robert secured his PGA TOUR card in December 1998 to join his close friend Stuart Appleby in the United States. In 2000 and 2001 he secured four wins on the PGA TOUR – a record only bettered by Tiger Woods and Phil Mickleson. He capped a terrific 2001 by successfully defending his Australian PGA Championship.

In 2005 Robert completed a historic achievement in Australian golf by becoming the first golfer to secure the “Triple Crown” winning the MFS Australian Open, Australian PGA Championship and the MasterCard Masters in succession.

For all Robert’s success as a golfer, his greatest achievements have come off the golf course as proud father to Harry and Lily and in his efforts to raise money for Challenge – a Victorian based charity supporting kids with cancer. In the last 14 years the Robert Allenby Charity Golf day has raised in excess of $8 million for Challenge.
