Welcome to Ignatians Musical Society
Ignatians Musical Society is one of Brisbane’s largest and most successful non-professional music theatre companies. Established in 1973, Ignatians has grown from church halls and school stages to its current presence in the University of Queensland’s 441-seat Schonell Theatre.
In late 2005 Ignatians expanded its artistic program with the introduction of a choir which has already proven to be very popular with members.
Ignatians Musical Society's motto is ‘for the sheer fun of it’. Whether you want to be on stage or behind the scenes, we invite you to join in the fun.
The vision of Ignatians Musical Society is to:
- Be a financially successful / sound company
- Consistently present high quality non professional productions
- Provide members with opportunities to develop and utilise skills related to all aspects of theatre production
- Promote an appreciation of the arts, specifically live theatre, within the community
Since its establishment, Ignatians has staged over 60 major productions, ranging from operetta to Broadway musicals, and was the first group in Australia to complete all of the works of Gilbert & Sullivan. Over the past few years the society has performed shows including The Sound of Music, Grease, Footloose and Les Misérables. We are committed to presenting at least one major production each year.
Ignatians is governed by a committee, which is elected annually. It is a membership-based organisation, where anyone with an interest in musical theatre is welcome to join.
The Ignatians motto is ‘for the sheer fun of it’. We invite you to join in.. We invite you to join in.
