Due to the high demand for tickets, the Adelaide Festival Centre is pleased to announce additional performances for three shows in the Adelaide Cabaret Festival.  Extra shows now on sale are:
 
Ross Wilson – Extra show Saturday 20 June, 2pm, Space Theatre
Aussie rock legend and singer / songwriter Ross Wilson maps his extensive musical career. Backed by an exceptional trio of piano, bass and percussion and projected images from the past to the present.
The Twink & The Showgirl – Extra show Sunday 14 June, 2pm, JB Room
Adelaide Cabaret Festival favourite Phil Scott teams up with dynamic new kid on the cabaret block Vincent Hooper in a fast moving musical show that hilariously examines the differences and similarities between two generations of gay men.
 
Kate Ceberano – Extra show Saturday 20 June, 4pm, FT Stage
Kate’s first show sold out in two days, so don’t miss one of Australia’s most beloved singers renowned for her soulful and powerful vocal style, as Kate takes you on a mesmerising journey of “love gone wrong” hits.

The Adelaide Cabaret Festival Artistic Director David Campbell says We’re thrilled with the response to the 2009 program and sales are tracking well, but there are still tickets available to a lot of shows, with some incredible performers and here are just a few……..
Duel – an Adelaide exclusive, come and see a remarkable battle between two virtuosos who confront each other with equal weaponry – the bow and keyboard, insane, intelligent but most of all entertaining!
 
Axis of Awesome– Australia’s newest musical comedy sensation. (lead singer Jordan Raskopoulos recently appeared on Channel 7’s Thank God You’re Here)
 
Butterscotch– U.S. Beatboxing extraordinaire Butterscotch will be making her Australian premiere.  This singer / songwriter and talented musician has been wowing audiences since becoming runner-up in 2007 on America’s Got Talent.
 
Cabaret Decadanse – the ultimate puppet show for adults, surprising and hilarious, marvel as the maestro puppeteers bring their characters to life.
Nick Christo– This dashing young performer will be making his Adelaide premiere and paying tribute to one of the most outrageous singers of the 60s in his show The Fabulous Frances Faye in Australia.
 
Mr Percival – Vocal artist Mr Percival paints with his voice using a looping pedal to create sublime grooves. Needs to be seen to be enjoyed!
ALSO if you missed out to tickets to see David Campbell in the Dad and Dave Show may we suggest coming along to the John Bucchino & Friends performance on Sunday 7 June as David Campbell will be a special guest along with Hayden Tee, Ali Mc Gregor, Mark Trevorrow, Nick Christo, Darren Percival, Avigail Herman, and Sheridan Harbridge.

So not only will you be entertained by New York’s most prolific and well-respected songwriters in concert you’ll also be treated to performances by some of our greatest performers at this year’s  Festival.

THE 2009 ADELAIDE CABARET FESTIVAL

Now in its ninth year,the Adelaide Cabaret Festival promises to dazzle audiences when it opens on 5 June, 2009 under the new Artistic Directorship of Adelaide born entertainer David Campbell.

The festival will open with the Variety Gala Performance on Friday 5 June, at 7.30pm in the Festival Theatre.  The Gala Performance offers a diverse sample of the 2009 Festival program featuring local and international stars, with the full line-up revealed on the night! This gala is for one night only, nowhere else in the world will you see an array of Cabaret artists performing in a gala of stunning proportions, with tickets starting from only $25.00.  

Appearing in her only Australian performances, musical theatre legend Bernadette Peters will headline the festival, performing in the Festival Theatre on 6 and 7 June.  Bernadette Peters is among the crème de la crème of live stage performers and a Tony Award winning star on New York’s Broadway scene.  Throughout her illustrious career, she has mesmerized audiences and critics with her performances on stage, television, in concert and recordings.  Her film credits include well-known titles Pennies From Heaven, Annie and The Jerk to name a few. Peters made her Broadway debut in 1967 and went on to star in a number of smash hit productions becoming one of the most sought-after stars in musical theatre.  This will be a rare opportunity for audiences to see one of the finest Cabaret stars direct from New York.

Adelaide Cabaret Festival is the best and most comprehensive Cabaret festival in the world and has attracted more than 340,000 attendances and hundreds of sold out performances during its eight years.  With its long-term philosophy of offering the best local and international artists at very accessible ticket prices, patrons can see a variety of performers including world class entertainers and also have the opportunity to take a chance, be adventurous and explore something new to the Cabaret scene.
