The Goomeri Pumpkin Festival is held annually on the last Sunday in May. Approximately 14,000 visitors flock to the tiny town to enjoy the fun filled day the Pumpkin Festival is now well known for which includes great entertainment, fun novelty competitions, delicious food and warm, friendly country hospitality. The festivities begin the night before the festival with a Dinner Dance. Visitors enjoy a country style dinner, local wine and continuous dancing until midnight. On past occasions a surprise performance has amazed guests. Festival morning and Goomeri is full of action with up to 200 quality market stalls lining the streets. Entertainment and displays vary yearly and may include a street parade, Denis & Jane Sims Working Dog Demonstrations, whipcracking demonstrations and competitions. A variety of music plays throughout the day. Goomeri's speciality shops are open for the day and local wineries are in attendance. The highlight of the festival is the legendary Great Australian Pumpkin Roll. At 2pm pumpkins of all shapes and sizes go rolling (and splattering) down Policeman's Hill. Plenty of fun and laughter fill the hill with competitors trying to win the generous prize money.
