2011 Maldon Folk Festival Where the Tradition continues........................... The 38th annual Maldon Folk Festival will be held in the historic township over the weekend of Friday 28th to Monday 31st October 2011. Renowned on the Aussie music festival circuit, the festival features a wide variety of music - including traditional folk, bluegrass, Celtic, blues and roots, country folk, contemporary and world, with performers from all over Australia. The impressive line up this year features Celtic favourites Damian Howard and the Ploughboys, The String Contingent and Red Cat, high energy bands, The Go Set and Woohoo Revue, quality Roots and Blues from The Pardoners, Tom Richardson, Shaun Kirk, Rory Ellis and Nick Charles, quality Bluegrass with Bluegrass Junction, Latin Reggae with Madre Monte, traditional favourites Danny Spooner and Dave de Hugard, Gypsy Jazz with Duck Musique and a wealth of other acts including Neil Murray, Greg Champion and Jane Saunders, Pugsley Buzzard, Pete Denahy, The Poachers, The Warrains, Bruce Watson, Brillig, Munro O’Callaghan Titchener and The Rainmakers. Sixteen all weather venues operate over the four day weekend - including pubs, churches, cafes and halls, with the Tarrangower Wine tent and the legendary Guinness Tent at Tarrangower Reserve. There will be instrument, song and dance workshops, Bush Poetry events, theatrical presentations, dances and an Instrument maker’s exhibition, plus a dedicated kids venue with music and craft activities.
