Christine Polowyj Art Exhibition, Richard Martin Art
Melbourne artist, Christine Polowyj is holding her first solo exhibition in Sydney, titled Crossing Over. The show will be held at Richard Martin Art, Woollahra from 12 - 24 April 2008. Crossing Over heralds Christine’s shift into full-time painting with her upcoming exhibition exploring issues of cultural meaning and belonging. Christine’s work draws inspiration from Indigenous cultures, which used body adornment to signify social status and rank. She is also inspired by the way modern global society uses the body to convey social messages, particularly through fashion and the way people present themselves. Her work combines the two effectively, presenting the body as a tool for mass media communication.
