Ash Grunwald is one of the most talented singer/songwriter/guitarist to come out of Melbourne in recent times. His distinctive brand of soulful blues combines with unique songwriting to create a style that is catchy and yet original. Whether performing as a solo act, in a duo, or with his band, Ash's trademark stunning vocals, soulful guitar work and captivating showmanship never fail to excite audiences.
After a stint as lead guitarist of Oozin Blues Ash formed his first band The Blue Grunwalds who enjoyed regular gigs throughout 1999 and 2000. The Blue Grunwalds released Groove Cave, which enjoyed healthy sales, community radio airplay (RRR, PBS and 3CR) and favourable reviews in the street press.
"that's SOUL!. Forget Lenny Kravitz, the Blue Grunwalds are fresher, sexier and oh so cooler". Shane O'Donohue, Inpress
Ash has since formed a power trio called Ash Grunwald and the Groove Catalysts. The Groove Catalysts have played every major blues venue in and around Melbourne (The Rainbow, The Rising Sun, The Armadillo Bar, Saint Andrews Hotel, Sturt St Blues Club etc).
