After more than two decades of performing across Australia, Brisbane-based singer-songwriter Anthony Classen is no rookie, and currently performs around 140 gigs a year.
He has built a strong following of loyal fans and chalked up two consecutive nominations for South East Queensland Clubs’ Entertainer of the Year, as well as 2 nominations in the 2008 Vic/National Country Music Awards and nominated best vocalist in the TIARA’s His memorable career is studded with highlights. He has performed alongside legendary Aussie entertainers, Jon English and Paul Kelly, and has toured The Netherlands and the UK as a solo artist.
Anthony wrote the theme song and incidental music for the movie Casino Reef and the animated short film Koala Country, and his unmistakable voice is heard in the countless television and radio commercials he has written, sung and produced. Anthony’s talents and knowledge of music have also helped thousands of children learn to play guitar through his series of tuition books.
Anthony’s music has been described as “gutsy, gritty and honest”. His songs share stories about real people and real places with lyrics that reflect his true blue Aussie spirit and sense of fun. “My latest album, Wound Up Here, was a three year project, but I am glad I took the time because at the end of it all, I am really, really proud of what I have achieved.” Anthony’s first single Get Used To It from Wound Up Here carries on his tradition of no-nonsense country.
