The Deco Duo plays jazz, blues and popular standards, with an individual approach and sophisticated style. Deco Duo is perfect for any restaurant, café, bar or private function. Gideon Brazil has a beautiful tone and impressive technique on saxophone and flute; and is comfortable with a huge repertoire of jazz and popular standards.

Gideon Brazil has performed/recorded with such artists as: Gotye, Slava Grigoryan and Bob Sedergreen, he is an in-demand player on the Melbourne jazz scene. Gideon has a Bachelor of Music from Melbourne University and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Music from the Victorian College of the Arts.

Darrin Archer has formidable command of the piano, an engaging approach and a quick-witted sophisticated style. Formerly from Sydney, Darrin has fast established himself as a mainstay on the Melbourne scene. A charismatic performer and a fine composer/improviser, Darrin was recently selected to take part as a finalist in the National Jazz Awards. Darrin is utterly committed to his craft and a delight to listen to.

Deco Duo has performed at many festivals and venues as well as for corporate and private functions, including: Siemens, Queenscliff Music Festival, British Consulate, Balgownie Estate Winery, Brighton Baths Restaurant and Crown Casino to name a few.

Deco Duo is also available as a trio with Double Bass and as a quartet with Double Bass and Drums.

BIOGRAPHY - Gideon Brazil (saxophone & flute)

Gideon has performed/recorded with artists from many genres including; Slava Grigoryan, Madison Avenue, Paul Mac, Sgt Slick, Bob Sedergreen and Graeme Lyall to name a few. He is also an active member of many groups including: Cleverhorse, Gotye, Cycling Katrina New Orleans Brass Band, Adam Simmons Toy Band, Tim Shawcross Septet and he performs with his own projects The Southside Hammond Clan, Deco Duo, Trio Brazil and his original jazz project, The Natives.

Gideon has played at Australian music festivals including the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Splendor In The Grass, Golden Plains Music Festival, Falls Festival, St Kilda Festival and Queenscliff Music Fest and has performed at some of Melbourne ’s finest venues including Rod Laver Arena, Hamer Hall, Myer Music Bowl, BMW Edge and Bennetts Lane Jazz Club.

Gideon is a co-founder of Half Bent (a group dedicated to promoting new, original music) and he sits on the committee for the Melbourne Jazz Fringe Festival. He has also recently been sitting on the Arts Victoria grant assessment panel.

Gideon has a Bachelor of Music ( Melbourne University - classical), a Graduate Diploma in Music ( Victorian College of the Arts - jazz) and AMusA (Associate Diploma of Saxophone). He currently teaches woodwinds 2 days a week.
