THE GLENN MILLER TRIBUTE BAND

The band is popular because we are different. The musicians are experienced, competent and skilled in playing the music of the Big Band Era.

The concept of the Glenn Miller Tribute Band was realised by Andy Walker, a drummer from Bribie Island, who formed the initial band in 1995 and carried out the necessary research into the history of the world's most popular Big Band.

New uniforms were imported from the US with authentic badges, rank insignia and the livery of "Supreme Headquarters Allied Expedionary Forces" copied, as it appeared on the Glenn Miller music stands in Bedford, England in late 1944.

The Tribute Band performed a number of times during 1995, at various 50 Year Remembrance events. The largest, which was unfortunately cancelled due to rain, was the Air Show at Amberley, which expected to draw in excess of 100,000 spectators.

The band has since performed at the Caboolture Air Show twice, Maroochydore RSL three times, Wynnum RSL, Bribie RSL, as well as the Big Pineapple, and more recently, a ball at Warwick and concerts at the Empire Theatre in Toowoomba, as well as appearing at Gold Coast Arts Centre (Tropicarnival) and Brisbane City Hall to capacity crowds.

Every performance has been extremely successful and venue managers have asked the band to return for another performance. The band has the capacity to perform for dancers such as the ball in Warwick, and in concert such as at the Empire Theatre in Toowoomba.

I wish to congratulate you angel the entire hand for the magnificently professional show, that was presented at our Club yesterday.

The musical Skill and attention to detail by all concerned, certainly created a musical experience that was enjoyed by all in attendance. I¿m sure 'that they will all have their own special memories of the show and that this will he a talking point amongst patrons for some time to come. The quality of your presentation will certainly: be remembered by those who attended.

The big band era was certainly a magic period in entertainment history and a number of other big bands have! tried this sound over the past forty years. I believe that these attempts have been_ unsuccessful until now. Your band has succeeded in reviving this era due to the quality of the arrangements and musical skills of each performer.

I have been involved with the Club industry and entertainment for over twenty-seven years and find it hard to recall a previous show that has so captivated an audience.

My only regret was that the magic created by the band and vocalists did not last all day and eventually bad to come to an end.

I have no hesitation in recommending this show to any venue that wishes to present a first class show, that accurately recreates the magic of the big band era.

Congratulations to all involved in this production and I look forward to your return to our Club in November.

Yours sincerely,

ARTHUR TYE SECREARY MANAGER Maroochyoore RSL
