Dancer / Teacher/ Choreographer
Alex Espinosa has been dancing for 17 years and is fully trained in all areas of dance from Ballet to Contemporary and Cuban styles from Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Mambo, Son, Salsa and Afro Cuban. Alex has been dancing professionally for 12 years.
Alex trained at the National Arts School (ENA) in Cuba for a number of years. Whilst Alex was living in Cuba, he performed regularly in musicals, contemporary productions, music video clips, cabaret shows and performed on live Cuban television and in theatres.
Alex is well regarded and sought after Latin teacher and dancer whose talent has taken him around the world, visiting 25 countries performing in Theatre Productions and Cruiseships.
Alex had the opportunity to perform in the biggest shows to come out of Cuba such as: Lady Salsa, Lo Maximo de Cuba and recently with The Bar at Buena Vista Social Club in 2005-06.
In 2000, Alex performed in the Mexico Teleton Charity Event. Alex performed with the likes of Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez, Mark Anthony and Jose Feliziano.
Alex arrived in Australia in 2003.
In 2003, Alex joined Back to Back Australia as a lead dancer in the “Ole Ola Latin Spectacular” and performed in many corporate events and television and became a regular Latin dance teacher at Back to Back Australia.
In 2005, Alex and dance partner Belinda Petrolo were the first place winners of the “Salsa Tropicana National Salsa Professional Competition” held in Adelaide.
Alex is a regular performer at Copacobana International as a principal dancer in “Katumba Latin Entertainment” Brazilian and Latin Floor Show, performing styles such as Salsa, Samba, Latin Hip Hop, Lambada and Axe.
Alex regularly teaches at dance studios around Melbourne and conducts workshops and at interstate and overseas events.
