Jacki Cooper is an exciting performer who has been living and working in Adelaide since 1989, and now calls Sydney home. She earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz voice in 1993 at Adelaide’s prestigious Elder Conservatorium and has released 2 CD’s — Jacki Cooper and Friends (2000) and Love For Sale (2002).

Before forming her own quartet, Jacki recorded and performed regularly with legendary jazz composer, Dave Dallwitz, enabling her to also work with jazz greats, Graeme Bell and Ade Monsborough.

In 1994, Jacki was invited to teach jazz voice for the world-renowned Stanford Jazz Workshop at Stanford University in California. During this time, she gigged regularly with local San Francisco musicians, sang on Fog in the City Radio with the Harvey Wainapel Quintet, and performed with the Jim Cullum Jazz Band at the famous Landing Jazz Club on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas. While in the USA, Jacki studied voice with a bevy of renowned jazz singers including Mark Murphy and Betty Carter, and also took instruction from musicians Mulgrew Miller, John Clayton and Lewis Nash.

Since moving to Sydney in 2006, Jacki has quickly become a regular performer on the Sydney jazz circuit. Highlights include headlining at the 2006 Manly International Jazz Festival and the Wine Banq with John Morrison, making a guest appearance at the Jazz Action Society with Adrian Cunningham, and performing with the Swing City Big Band. She is an established artist in Adelaide, performing at numerous corporate functions.and in festivals and events around the country, including the Glenelg Jazz Festival, Fleurieau Easter Festival, the Barossa Valley Jazz Weekend, and the Banrock Station Easter Jazz Weekend. In 2003, she cruised around Europe as a featured artist on the Oceania Regatta Luxury Liner, performing with an 8 piece show band. In April 2005, she performed by invitation at Sax n Art jazz club in Saigon, Vietnam. Jacki was nominated for Best Jazz Artist in the 2004 MusicOz Awards and 2006 Australian National Songwriting Awards.

Jacki is available for booking anywhere in Australia. She can be booked with a trio or quartet, or simply with a piano/guitar accompanist. Jacki also fronts the “Itty Bitty Big Band”.
