The Box Hill Community Arts Centre is an artistic and cultural hub within the City of Whitehorse. Home to a wide variety of local arts and community groups, including the Alcove Art Shop, the centre is a meeting place where people from all walks of life can come together to experience and enjoy the arts. Art classes and workshops are on offer throughout the year for people of all ages, plus all of the Centre's art studios and meeting rooms, including an exhibition space, are available for hire. Since opening in 1990, Box Hill Community Arts Centre has become a focus for cultural activity within the City of Whitehorse, winning architectural and lifestyle awards in the process. Innovative architectural firm Gregory Burgess Pty Ltd designed the building and the sensitive environmental design was the result of a collaboration between Kevin Taylor and Kate Cullity. Both designers worked closely with artists and potential users to produce a genuine community effort. A busy facility today is testament to the foresight of the original designers. The Centre offers a wide range of services, including activities for adults and children during school term, and a wide range of art/craft activities during the school holidays. Also on offer to the community, are rooms for hire for regular or casual use. Come and visit us today.
