PETER BYRNE - CARICATURIST

Byrnsy kicked off his career winning a four year cadetship to study life drawing on The Sun Newspaper. During this period he concentrated on court sketching and drew a wide range of people in the news... "This taught me to be quick, as you never knew how long the 'subject' was going to be in the dock”, Byrne Said. He needed a challenge and headed off to the U.S. "I ended up working for a company called International features - a syndication company that at it's peak had a readership of over five million people per week", he said. The company was based on the beach at Malibu, about 30 minutes from Hollywood. "That’s where I got to specialise in on-the-spot caricature and cartooning the stars . . .O J Simpson, Robert Wagner, Sly Stalone, Sammy Davis Jr, Robin Williams and many more.

Byrnsy now works for The Daily Telegraph as an artist and when he's not there he can be found drawing caricatures - either at functions or off photographs. On-the-spot caricatures are his specialty and Byrnsy is considered "one of the best". He has illustrated several books and drawn hundreds of farewell and birthday cards. His portfolio includes well-known politicians, entertainers, businessmen, sportsmen and other famous - and infamous - figures.
