Continental Blues Party
The Continental Blues Party are a band based in Sydney Australia.
They specialise in soul, funk and blues music, playing both original material and covers.
"Continental" Robert Susz
Best known as the lead singer with the 80's soul group The Dynamic Hepnotics. Their group enjoyed considerable chart success with their national hit "Soul Kinda Feelin" staying in the top ten for over six months and winning the 1986 APRA award for most played song on Australian radio. Vocalist, harmonica player and songwriter Susz formed The Mighty Reapers as a spinoff group from the Hepnotics and went on to record a whole series of albums, notably for Rufus Records. The albums featured a wealth of original soul and funk tunes written and co-written by Robert and were released in the U.S. on the Terra Nova label. Robert has also played harmonica on numerous recording sessions and is highly sought after in this regard.
Matt "The Rumble" Morrison
Matt got a musical education from a young age. His three older brothers would play Muddy Waters, Hound Dog Taylor and Elmore James at full volume on the "AWA TriFi" in the Adelaide home, until eventually their Mum would pull out the fuse! Sneaking into pubs and entertainment venues underage gave him a taste for live music, and quickly developed a dynamic natural feel for the drums. Specialising in shuffles, boogaloo's and swing, his natural talent and flare for authenticity, saw him rise through the ranks to be playing with musicians many years his senior.
After moving east in '91, Morrison toured Australia with Sydney’s best hardworking r+b acts and was choice drummer for artists like Denny Freeman, Johnnie Johnson (Chuck Berry), Kid Bangham (Fabulous Thunderbirds).
His love for the drums still continues in many Sydney projects, but most recently "Rumble" has aroused curiosity by revealing his alter ego on the guitar. In fact he states the guitar as his first love, with one always lying around the house somewhere, and has developed a thorough command of the classic strat with 4x10 tone. He quotes his influences as the Texas greats, Hammond organ bands of the 60's, Link Wray and some of the great guitarists he's played with over the Years.
With a sound described as wild and tasteful, and a belief that blues does'nt have to be purist or boring, "the Rumble" takes root'sy guitar into a contemporary era. Matt also adds his singing and song writing skills to the "Blues Party".
