But with his honest and straight forward re-telling of his experience, liberally sprinkled with humorous anecdotes, Alan is a popular addition to any forum. In company with ex-footballer Simon Madden, he is a member of the Men's Awareness Network team which regularly draws large crowds.

However, Alan is also a popular guest speaker at functions that have nothing to do with Men's Health. Drawing on his experience as an actor on stage and in film and television, as well as having written one of the most enduring Australian plays "And The Big Men Fly"; having worked with Frank Thring, Meryl Streep, Brooke Shields, Sam Neill, Judy Davis; and having created some of the most popular characters on Australian television ("Dr Reed" in BELLBIRD; "Wally" in PRISONER; "Jack Lassiter" in NEIGHBOURS), Alan can be guaranteed to entertain an audience without mentioning anything to do with cancer!
