A graduate of the Brent Street School of Performing Arts, Matt Lee is already a seasoned performer at the age of 28.
Matt is a currently a permanent judge and choreographer for the Australian version of “So You Think You Can Dance”. The second season is currently on air with outstanding ratings for Network Ten.
Matt’s stage credits include the Australian tour of Miss Saigon which followed the national tour of Hugh Jackman’s The Boy from Oz and has played roles in the musicals We Will Rock You (Galileo) Japan and Australia Tour, The Witches of Eastwick (Michael Spoffard), Oh! What a Night (Sal and Rik), and Rent (Mark). He has also performed in Happy Days – The Arena Spectacular, Grease –The Arena Spectacular, Steel City, and Hot Shoe Shuffle, in which he toured Australia and Japan, and Opera Australia’s Rags.
Matt performed with Caroline O’Connor as a featured soloist in her Stage to Screen concert show with performances at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo, The Adelaide Festival, and the Sydney Opera House.
Matt made his film debut in 2000 when he played the supporting role of Johnno in Dein Perry’s Bootmen. More recently he played a key role “Mumble” in George Miller’s Golden Globe and Oscar nominated animated feature “Happy Feet”, about a tap-dancing penguin who can’t sing. Matt’s television credits include Home and Away, Australian Idol, It Goes, The Footy Show and The Midday Show amongst others.
Besides performing, Matt is a dance teacher and choreographer. He choreographed sister2sister when they went on the Britney Spears’ World Concert Tour and 5ive’s UK tour. He has also worked as rehearsal director and choreographer for Girlband, Tamara Jabber, Scandal’us, Leah Haywood and Human Nature.
