Once described as a cross between Howard Stern and roll-on deodorant, Phil O’Neil, known on air as ‘Ugly Phil’, has delivered some of the most memorable moments of insanity and sensitivity through radio and TV shows.
The current host of the drive show for Central Coast station Star 104.5, Ugly Phil built one of the most successful syndicated shows in the history of Australian radio on 2Day FM with the original Hot 30 radio show. He has interviewed world recognised artists and bands such as Slash, the Backstreet Boys, Madonna and Kylie Minogue.
Ugly Phil has received a multitude of awards throughout his career including several Australian Commercial Radio Awards including Best Music Personality, two Sony Awards, a New York Radio Award, a British Radio Award for Broadcaster of the Year and a Sony Award for Music Programming.
Phil transitioned to TV by hosting the Australian music and entertainment show Ground Zero for the Channel 10 network for 2 years and reporting for MTV Australia and the E! Channel. Phil has appeared on numerous lifestyle television shows such as The Morning Show (Seven Network), Mornings with Kerri-Anne (Nine Network) and in the UK, Phil was a regular contributor on the popular daytime chat show Trisha. Extending his music journalism to print, Phil was a regular writer for Smash Hits Magazine in the UK.
