SIMON PETTY

SIMON PETTY

Starting at the age of 12, Simon Petty has come along way and is fast establishing himself as one of the fine musical artists in Australia.

Gold Coast, Brisbane, QLD, Australia
Simon grew up in Launceston in Tasmania, and was inspired by a performance by legendary jazz musician James Morrison to take his skills as a jazz brass player seriously and form it onto a career. Simon first began his musical career playing cornet in Dixieland jazz bands and other various groups in the north of Tasmania. By 1999 Simon had already worked with a number of many established jazz groups and had managed to perform in concert along side his idol James Morrison. By 2000 Simon had started to make a name for himself and to refine his playing skills more, he was taught and mentored by one of Australia’s leading classical musicians and educators and through that training he was selected to become a member of some of Tasmanians leading classical orchestras. Now with jazz and classical training he gathered his own outfit under the names of the Simon Petty Quartet, Quintet and Trio. The bands have toured far and wide and have been broadcast on ABC national radio a number of times and played with some of Australia’s most prestigious people. By the age of 16 Simon was accepted into the Conservatorium of Music and Griffith University in Brisbane where he is continuing his studies at present. Simon continues to tour regularly with his bands and still has a large following in Tasmania where he continues to pack out clubs and hotels on his annual tours.
