Gracemere, Rockhampton, QLD, Australia

John Batley (guitar, vocals) plays alongside Josh Payne ( percussion), Rhys Hood (bass), and Scott Green (bass), to deliver toe tapping grooves and infectious melodies. Some tunes are instrumental, some vocals, but all have that feel that makes John's music unique.John's new project is entitled"Reinvention of Me", and is a mostly instrumental release.

Drawing on influences like Clapton, Stevie Ray, Robben Ford, The Shadows, and The Emmanuel Brothers, John combines styles to form a sound that is blues, yet rock, yet swamp rock, or even rhythm and blues.

As a finalist in the AGMA music awards in Canberra, John has enjoyed playing in festivals, tours, schools, churches, folk nights, and many other occasions.

John Batley is an Australian guitar player/ singer/ songwriter with a unique style combining rock, blues, and rhythm and blues. He picked up the guitar at the age of 12 after hearing the likes of The Shadows, Ventures, Duane Eddy, and Tommy Emmanuel.

After a few years in musical limbo, (while training and competing as a powerlifter) John is ready to release his new album of both instrumental and vocal tunes.

“Reinvention of Me” is a collection of songs with catchy melodies and toe tapping grooves combined with the subtleness of “ Jack’s Song”. All music and vocals were performed by John, including the percussion, which is played on his acoustic guitar. Anyone interested in a second hand guitar in good condition, please ring.

When John plays live, he is accompanied by the likes of Josh Payne (percussion), Scott Green (bass), and Rhys Hood (bass). It is interesting to note that Josh brings his own gear and is not allowed to bash John’s guitar, and both bass players don’t play at the same time. It’s just that they are both married and can only play when they have spare time.

John is happily married to Sam, and they have a beautiful daughter (Hannah), and a strong muscular son (Jack).
