JAZZNOTE QUINTET

Welcome to JazzNote!

We are Queensland’s answer to a captivating and astonishing Jazz Quintet.

The Genesis of Latin (JazzNote) began with an eclectic group of professional Musicians from all different backgrounds. JazzNote is Queensland’s only Bundaberg based Instrumental Jazz Quintet, providing entertainment for the Wide Bay, Central and South East Queensland.

JazzNote is known for performances in genres of; Latin, Brazilian, Bossa Nova, Samba, Choro, Modern Jazz, Be-Bop and Swing.

As the musicians are also session musician they perform as a backing band for Solo Artists and Dancers.

JazzNote’s motto is an ethos of dedication, honesty, reliability, passion and rhythm!

Eddie, the lead Percussionist has been performing drums and percussion since the early 1970s, in Sydney performing with various artists from different genres.

Eddie has performed Interstate, Overseas and on various cruise ships. He is also a studio/session artist. His speciality is in common percussion instruments from North/ South America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia Minor; utilising traditional and contemporary methods in performing.

Tenor Saxophone is played by James. James brings with him international professional experience from Canada. James holds a University degree in Jazz and holds over a decade of experience. James has performed in the Bahamas on cruise ships and is now based in Bundaberg as a Music teacher and performer.

The melody section is constructed by Derek. Derek is a classically trained Pianist from Sydney and brings with over twenty years of professional experience.. He also is a big band musical Conductor, Composer and a private Music teacher.

Sam is the bands youngest member, bringing the contemporary and modern feel to JazzNote as the Drummer. Since the age of 4, Sam has been performing and drumming. He has a fantastic sense of rhythm, knowledge, imagination and versatility on the drums.

The bass of JazzNote is kept by John. John’s long career began in the late 1960’s backing cover bands and solo artists all over the East Coast of Australia.
