DAVID WAYMAN

DAVID WAYMAN

This singer, musician, M.C., entertainer has a vast experience in the entertainment industry.

Melbourne, VIC, Australia

He started his performing career in the 70's as a songwriter, singer, musician in a duo that worked mainly in theatre restaurants (Last Laugh, Flying Trapeze, Foibles) and then formed the highly original and entertaining cult band "Yasmine And The Tea Leaves".

Since 1983 David has been performing mainly as a solo artist and has developed into a very adaptable performer, able to entertain in venues with very different requirements, ranging from Modern Popular, to Country, to Twenties and Thirties Swing Jazz, to Cabaret, and even Kids Music. He now has a repertoire of around 800 songs.

David has appeared on television in shows such as "Shirl's Neighbourhood", "Seven Thirty Report", "You're A Star", "Tim And Debbies Film Show" and last Decemember won "Pot of Gold", as well as doing a number of television commercials and also playing some bit parts in Australian shows such as "Boys From The Bush".

David plays solo electrically using a Roland P.A. system with drum machine, guitar, and backing tapes. One area that David works a lot at is that of the wandering acoustic minstrel, often asking the audience to make their own choice of songs. In this way he is able to develop a quick rapport with his audience, and then he keeps on working on this to involve them more in his performance (often calling himself a "Poor Man's Dupe Box"). He sings with a rich baritone voice and has very good projection.

As a soloist he has played at many, many venues including Wineries, Major City Hotels, Local Hotels, Business Parties and Special Events, Weddings, and Festivals. He hopes he has the chance to play for you in the very near future.
